Senate Bill 264: create a simple process enabling people to clear a petty prostitution conviction from their records
Please call the office of Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Gilbert Keith-Agaran and urge him to schedule a hearing on Senate Bill 264. This bill, if passed into law, would create a simple process enabling people to clear a petty prostitution conviction from their records.
These convictions can follow people around for years. A friend of ours was denied student aid at HCC due to a twenty year old conviction for soliciting. This change will be particularly useful for transwomen, many of whom have sold sex and may have old convictions that undermine them for years.
Who to Call:
Senator Keith-Agaran
808-586-7344
What to say:
“Hello, I am calling to urge Senator Keith-Agaran to give SB624 a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Thank you.”
They might ask for your name and city. Stage name is acceptable, be honest about your city.
Bonus points:
Call Senator Will Espero and tell him: “Thank you for introducing SB624.”
